REINE IN LOFOTEN IS ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING PLACES I HAVE EVER BEEN

I have been interested in film and photography since I was very young and I always bring a camera of some sort on my travels. People that know me might even tell you I am slightly obsessive, but to me, it´s so fun to be able to capture magical moments and bring them back to life later. Admiring old film clips, going down memory lane or creating a piece with movement and music.

With new, smatrter technology is easier than ever before to capture the magic on the road. I am especially in love with the DJI OSMO MOBILE grip, that allows me to capture stable, professional looking images with my iPhone.  I can easily upload the data and share it with people after, either through the smart app or by editing on my mac.

STORYTELLING

Today I read something really inspiring about how being "stuck" in bad patterns and habits is quite common, but how easily we can get "unstuck" if we only shift our perspective a little bit. The article from the enlightened, colorado based magazine "listen, share and be kind, was saying that we are not solid beings with problems, rather consciousness projecting epic stories

Everything that appears outside of you actually originates from our consciousness

Our perspective on life can change with a single move

Our perspective on life can change with a single move

We tend to think that we have to keep feeling a certain way or do something the same way as always, just because that's "our identity. How many times have you said, well, that's just who I am or no, that's not me?? We tend to cling to our story and wait around for something outside our self or the idea of the future, to make changes.

I really connected with the author of the article saying that everything that appears outside of us actually originates from inside us, our consciousness. Whatever we transmit out is reflected back to us as through a mirror. We are the author and main character in our own stories and lives. The article I read said that quantum physics has shown that we send out frequencies that carry information through our thoughts, beliefs, and feelings.

If this is so, we also have the immense power to build our dream life. So, let's say that we can project a different frequency right now... does that not mean that we don't have to wait for something outside our self to shift our story?? If you feel stuck or unhappy with something, find a new perspective. Take the first step and begin telling a new story now. Don't wait for approval from the outside world, don't wait for someone to tell you it's okay... Don´t worry about what's wrong or right or how to fix your old story. Leave the old story behind and start telling a new version that paints you as an empowered being, filled with love, passion, gratitude and confidence! Tell this new story over and over and don't be scared to pour your heart & soul into it. Its a law of physics that at some future point, the universe will reflect back to you what you put out there.

Break bad habits with movement

Finding a good balance in your work day can be a big challenge. When I get stuck in front of the computer for too long, staring at the screen with bad posture, I find that I get tunnel vision and lose touch with myself

Climbing fuels my soul, gets me focused and opens my creative channels

Sitting in front of the computer for to long, usually involves lots of "hunching" and bad posture.  You can notice that your posture will be more and more "closed up" the more you sit in the "computer position". Standing once in a while can do wonders, preferably using a standing desk.

To break up my day from sitting still too long and to get a different perspective, I like to go for a run or do some kind of physical activity, preferably outside, but anything goes in a hectic work day. Being a professional athlete competing for over 18 years, has thought me that repetition over time, helps you attract those results. The results can be positive or negative for the body and the mind, all depending on what it is that you are repeating. Therefor, it is smart to make sure that you adapt and repeat those healthy habits and lifestyle into your "every day".

In order to reopen my posture and connect with my heart chakra I do opposite movements of what I would do in front of the computer. I practice some form of yoga everyday. Yoga is a great activity to break up a work day when you spend a lot of t…

In order to reopen my posture and connect with my heart chakra I do opposite movements of what I would do in front of the computer. I practice some form of yoga everyday. Yoga is a great activity to break up a work day when you spend a lot of time sitting still. It´s one of my favorite forms of movement to keep in touch with my body, mind and spirit.

The past years I have gotten pretty found of climbing and to improve my techniqueI like to integrate hand and finger exercises into my day to day life. Taking 10 minutes to stand up and give some attention to my hands can both help my climbing and save me from adapting negative patterns that again can lead to dis-ease further down the line.

Climbing is an easy activity that everyone can do and it does not require a lot of equipment, especially if you are bouldering. If I dont have access to an easy outdoor climbing spot, I go to a climbing gym near me and do a 45 min session. It is amazing how much more clarity, focus and creativity I have when I come back to my work space.

SALAD WITH SWEET POTATOE STRIPS

SALAD WITH SWEET POTATOE STRIPS

Eating healthy trough out the day really helps me stay focused and provides me with the energy I need to endure through the day. Getting up from chair to make meals, helps me break up my work day. It also gives me credits towards my daily standing goal witch is 12 hours each day. It mights sound silly to have a standing goal, but it´s touch on the hip flexors to sit for long periods of time. It also is contributing towards my goal of being the best version of myself. I like to make smoothie bowls, salads with goodies from the garden, yummy vegetable pasta & eggs with avocado & sourdough bread from a local bakery (the real sourdough)

I have started using a watch to help remind me to get up and break away from creating bad habits and patterns. It also tells me to take a minute to breathe. As I am typing this, my clock just told me to get up and move. I guess technology can be use…

I have started using a watch to help remind me to get up and break away from creating bad habits and patterns. It also tells me to take a minute to breathe. As I am typing this, my clock just told me to get up and move. I guess technology can be used as a crutch or as a tool, all depending on your awareness around it :)

FOOD IS MY MEDICINE

Food is my medicine. Food is my fuel. I can even stretch it to say that food is becoming my religion. Call me crazy but the more I experience what a profound impact the food I eat and what I drink has on my health, the more I want to fuel my body with only good stuff

Kjersti Buaas PURPS athlete

So much of our food has/ is getting depleted and altered, and it is getting harder to find pure, fresh, non-chemical food. Our soil used to have over 52 trace minerals, compared to now when it's reduced to only 3 in most conventional agriculture. I started waking up to this (harsh) reality about 8-9 years ago, and it's important for me to keep educating myself. Knowledge is power and when I go to the store I want to be able to make choices I can really stand behind. I want to understand who and what system I am supporting with my purchases. There are many companies and people out there who are serving a purpose for the greater good. I want to use my platform as an athlete to showcase these companies and people, who are committed to providing us with products that are good for us and for the environment. If you are curious about this delicious superfood smoothie bowl in this picture please visit www.purps.com/blogs (see link in my bio) to find the recipe - It's made by myself as a pre-workout meal, with fresh ingredients and lots of intention to support good health. It provides me with clean every that enables me to adventure and use my body all day long

INSIDE LOOKI X GAMES FROM AN ATHLETE PERSPECTIVE

KJERSTI BUAAS XGAMES MATT PAIN
The past year I’ve started putting my words into action and I feel like I’m now reaping the benefits of that work

I love being a part of the progression and development of snowboarding and I hope we get to celebrate action sports on a world stage in Norway again next year!!! Congrats to all the athletes for giving everyone a show they will never forget. Each and everyone put their own unique stamp on it. Big ups to the people behind the scenes working 24/7 to get this X GAMES one to remember and look back at for good memories. Thank you to the crowds for being so passionate and uplifting. It genuinely makes a big difference to ride when you feel the energy of so many people cheering you on. Special thanks to EUREKA and my family coming out to watch me play. I am leaving here inspired to become a better human and take my snowboarding to the next level

This moment was captured right after the ladies Big Air finals on Saturday; My team mate @siljenorendal has just won the gold medal and the crowds are going crazy. I am genuinely happy for her, as I know how determined she works towards her goals. I have just fallen on my last run, meaning I have not landed any of my tricks. Yet, I don't feel a strong sense of disappointment, regret or frustration. I wonder why, as I I'm deeply immersed in the hug. I can feel my team mate shaking, in tears of happiness over winning the gold. As I take a deep breath, it quickly becomes clear to me that I am feeling spiritual happiness. The kind of happiness that is available to you at any moment, once you become aware of it. While emotional happiness is depending on external factors, outside of your own control, spiritual happiness depends solely on yourself.  Off course my thoughts are drifting towards how much I wanted to land my tricks and how much I wanted to finish on the podium in front of my family... Yet, I felt very happy. I know it's because I have done a lot of "inside work" and learned that I can still access happiness in situations where I didn't think I could in the past. Despite the outcome and result. The past year I've started putting my words into action and I feel like I'm now reaping the benefits of that work. I fell but I still feel successful

YUMMY & HEALTHY BREAKFAST BOWL

Here is a favorite breakfast bowl of ours that came to life by just having a good time in the kitchen. We are such big fans of eating clean and healthy, meaning using ingredients that are grown in pure soil, without all the chemicals and GMO's 🌱

Our bodies are depending on us to take care of them and through our food we can create a healthy environment. This will show both on the inside and outside of ourselves. We also believe that the food has to taste good, so by using high quality ingredients like this is also a ticket to successful, simple and delicious meals.

This breakfast bowl involves organic fresh greens at the bottom, sourdough artisan whole grain bread, avocado and eggs from pasture- raised chickens. Drizzle organic, cold pressed olive oil over the whole bowl and sprinkle with raw hemp seeds. Top it with sea salt of good quality and fresh cracked pepper. Finish with a squeeze of lemon and jalapeños for spice. We assure you this bowl will inspire some loud sounds and make you wanna go dance

Rawness going down in Iceland!

This fall I will be competing against 11 other amazing athletes in the Norwegian TV show called "Råskap" meaning Rawness - the contest is about finding who is the toughest athlete of all! For me this was a great opportunity to show that a yogi-loving snowboarder could be just as RAW as these other crazy humans. Watch out for the show dropping this fall

Downward Phase:

Inhale and slowly lower your body back to a plank position. Keep the torso rigid and head and spine aligned. Do not allow the low back or ribcage to sag. The intensity of this exercise can be increased by lengthening the straps and positioning your body further away from the anchor point of the bands.

Upward Phase:

On an exhale, engage your abdominals. Bring your hips toward the ceiling and pull your legs toward your chest. Keep the legs straight and strong and toes pointed. Your feet should be glued together throughout the exercise. Continue the movement until your hips move directly over your shoulders in somewhat of a handstand position. Keep the torso rigid. Do not allow the spine to arch or bow.

GLUTES & CORE WARM UP

In all seriousness of exercising and training, it's important to remember to have fun and get a little weird. These are warm up exercises are great because they can be done literally anywhere. They require little to no equipment and you even get to go upside down and see the world from a different perspective. Any bands can be used, but we recommend you choose a band with medium resistance, that is completed so you don't have to tie it. Your "glutes " will thank you for the warm welcome!

Wrap the band around your shoulder and leg and move your leg up and down.Squeeze your butt when leg is in the straight position. Repeat 10 times on each side.
